Ubiquiti Releases Fixes for KRACK Vulnerability

We are issuing this announcement as it is important that all our customers are aware of the threat, and the fixes.

Key Points you Need To Know.

It has been announced globally that there is a vulnerability in the implementations of the common WPA2 WiFi security protocol.

  • This vulnerability has been named KRACK.
  • This affects WiFi Clients; not WiFi APs.
  • Ubiquiti has released the fix for UniFi WiFi devices that can act in Client (STA) mode.
  • Quote from Ubiquiti regarding UniFi-WiFi:
"This update only fixes the KRACK vulnerability in the wireless-uplink functionality of UniFi APs. You will still need to make sure that your client devices are updated/patched as well against the attack."
If you are NOT using the Wireless Uplink feature in your UniFi WiFi network (i.e linking AP to AP, or UniFi MESH), your UniFi WiFi devices do not need urgent updating.

The image below summarises what devices in your UniFi network are vulnerable to KRACK before they are upgraded.
